Design & Build

ASUS ROG Flow X13 entice the user with its compact chassis. It looks like a 13-inch small laptop that is easy to hold and carry. The best part is the design, thanks to the gaming style built. The lid has a ribbed black metal pattern which hints at a sign of aggressiveness.

The rear and right edge feature exhaust vents which are oversized. Its black metal colour extends to the keyboard deck and display area. Keyboard Functionality

The keyboard on ASUS ROG Flow X13 is up to mark and ideal for both professionals and business users. Despite its compact size, the keys have appropriate distance and offer good key travel. We did not see any discernible flex during our review while we were writing this review. The vertical key-travel distance is about 1.7mm, which is quite generous.

The keys symbols express the same aggressive font that one would expect from a ROG model. The backlighting is good but lacks colours as it only offers white lighting. The best part is the dedicated function keys that improve productivity.

Aside from the These include the usual brightness and volume controls; you can control physical features. There are keys that let you manage cooling fan speed and allow you to put it into sleep mode. There is a dedicated key for taking screenshots and controlling the keyboard-backlighting.

The touchpad is snuggly, well-engineered and delivers a smooth performance. We did not experience any extra resistance during our review. The trackpad responds well to commands and registers the inputs swiftly, even around corners.

Display Quality

The display is good for both office work and gaming. This is a 13-inch display that offers a resolution of 1920 x 1080. The best thing about it is the touchscreen feature, that let you control the device from its display. The Full HD screen offers a refresh rate of 120Hz, making it an ideal device for 1080p gaming.

The IPS technology makes sure you get better visual access from every angle. So, you can share the screen with your colleagues or put it on the table during a meeting to display charts or data. The glossy Gorilla Glass layers protect and prevent the screen from breaking if you accidentally drop it.

Connectivity & Ports

The ROG Flow X13 is a small laptop but somehow ASUS has managed to load it with all the essential ports. On the left side, there is the XG Mobile eGPU proprietary connector. Also, it features an audio combo jack and an HDMI output with HDMI 2.0b support.

The XG Mobile eGPU proprietary connector is hidden beneath a removable cover. If you remove the cover, there is actually a USB-C port, which you can also use it for data transfer and making device connection.

Hardware Selection

The hardware on ROG Flow X13 makes it one of the best convertibles on the market. As highlighted earlier, it comes equipped with AMD components. The processor on it is Ryzen 9-5980HS that runs on the Windows 10 Home OS. It offers a base frequency of 3.0GHz and promises a maximum turbo speed of 4.8GHz.

Then there is a whopping 32GB RAM blended with a massive 1TB SSD. This is a colossal RAM and ROM support that makes it easy for you to run heavy programmes. To add more fun, ASUS has loaded the GeForce GTX 1650 GPU by Nvidia. This dedicated graphics card improves the visual quality and offers an additional 4GB of VRAM.

Considering the hardware selection, the Flow X13 is an ideal laptop for creative professionals. Not only it has a high-speed CPU but also boasts splurging quantity of RAM and storage. Whereas the dedicated GPU makes this touchscreen convertible an idyllic choice for mobile gaming. You can play mid-range games without stuttering or lags and can work on media editing tools as well.

Battery Performance

This is the weakest component of a high-end convertible laptop. During our review, we were able to extract about 8 hours of productivity from the Flow X13. This performance is modest by modern standards but still exceptional from a touchscreen laptop with such demanding hardware. You can easily make it through a busy day on a single charge.

The Bottom Line

ASUS laptops are known for offering the latest technology with a taste of innovation. And the ROG Flow X13 lived up to the expectations, thanks to its 2-in-1 design and powerful specs.
